How to Go Viral? Are You Contagious Enough?

Have you wondered why a Facebook picture or video goes viral and gets millions of clicks? To be frank, sometimes there is nothing really that special about those “viral” posts. Why is that? What causes this phenomenon? Can you imagine millions looking at your picture or post?

We are talking about a mind virus. These are infectious aspects of our culture that spread throughout the population. Through social media, an idea (mind virus) begins its existence on it’s own and infects as many people as possible.

Do you read the newspaper? Do you watch TV or listen to the radio? Do you hang out with your peers?  You have caught the mind virus for sure. No politician can be elected without spreading the mind virus of “only I know how to fix the crisis”. The well-crafted images are flying through cyberspace and cause confusion and distraction. Maybe you have asked yourself why Kardashian’s marriage is more important than the rate of unemployment.

May be you are wondering how you can communicate your ideas, products, and books to the public. What do you do to go over the tipping point and spread your own mind virus?  This is all science and has nothing to do with your gut feeling. In other words, it takes science to produce the gut feeling and tears of joy or sadness in people. Actually, the process of creating a new idea consists of 4 phases: complacency, ridicule, criticism and acceptance.

What is a meme?

The most revolutionary book I have ever read is Virus of the Mindby Richard Brodie. It is a brilliant study on the science of memetics, which based on the workings of memes. What is a meme? I know you wonder. The working definition is that meme is a “unit of information in a mind whose existence influences events such that more copies of itself get created in other minds”. A successful meme spreads easily, but it does not necessarily mean that it spreads a good idea. Good meme sometimes spread some terrible behaviors (for example, suicide).

The Power Mind - How To Become Cutely Magnetic. This is approximate translation from Bulgarian. Give my mom and dad health, strength and life. Give peace and love to all our brothers. Give only goodness to my country.

How do you think you can benefit from all of this strange information? Mind viruses alter people’s behavior so that more of those viruses get created. I am guilty of the following: If I find that you like animals, I am many times more inclined to like you and buy from you. If not, I am done talking to you.  I noticed that when the images that accompany my posts are cats or other cute animals, I have double the amount of clicks and significantly more likes. Have you already clicked on the first picture?

Pets – Cultural Mind Virus

Pets penetrate our minds by attracting our attention. The pet industry successfully programs us to spend more money on expensive food, vet bills, and even ridiculous outfits. Pets become cuter and cuter because this is their way of getting our attention so that we can take care of them. Those that were not cute died. If you want a proven strong meme that can help attach your idea to the minds of your readers, use pictures of pets. Maybe you can convey your point by linking it somehow to a cute pet. People love to be infected with the pet meme. Use it to your advantage. “Businesses that use successful strategies of spreading the memes do better and get copied by others”.

If you want to learn more about how to disinfect your mind from society’s memes, read the book Virus of the Mind. Performing this disinfection of our minds is a real challenge. It is possible to consciously program ourselves with the memes we want to spread. Once you learn this skill, you can easily go viral.

If you want to spread a truly valuable virus, you give value to more people and help them achieve their goals. Become a real magnet and attract an endless stream of prospects to you. You can achieve this by checking out this free Mike Dillard’s 7 Day Free Video Boot Camp.

I hope you enjoyed the post and learned how to spread your mind virus, that breeds only truth. If so, I would greatly appreciate if you comment below and share with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Hi Margarita,
Interesting. Our minds are very much like a computer. Good things in and good things out, Garbage in and garbage out….. and so it goes.

Never heard of meme before but I like knowing this is influence we can use in our marketing. I might have to read more about this subject.
Thanks for sharing this interesting information.
BTW I love animals and they love me!

Thank you, Tonya,

The memes we are programmed with determine the perception of information we receive. This way reality looks different to different people. This is an eye opening concept.

BTW. did you notice that the CommentLuv comes with 2 dots instead of 1. This is a strong meme, even if not correct. Pretty cool…

I love animals. In my country I used to keep something to give away. We have many strays there. Sad story…
