[Daily Daughter Input] Daily Quote #2 || From Neale Donald Walsch And My Favorite Of All Time

This post has been contributed by my daughter, Kalina Slavkova. She just graduated from High School and on the way to college.

The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore, not to find out who you are; but seek to determine who you want to be.

~ Neale Donald Walsch ~

This is my favorite quote. Period. I can recite it to you with ease. In fact, I didn’t even have to look it up when I was writing this post. It is imprinted on my brain, and its message nourishes my soul each day when I call it to mind. I share it with you today, just as I shared it with my audience of 5,000 at my high school graduation, because I believe fully embracing this quote will unlock within you an irrevocable peace.

“I just haven’t found out who I am yet.” Sound familiar? It’s in movies, it’s in our minds, it’s used as a breakup line. WHY is it that “finding yourself” seems to be a requirement in life? Apparently your identity already exists when you’re born and you have to go hunt it down.

No. That’s not how it is. You are simply a being, an essence, that exists in one infinitely small period of time: the present moment. You are simply you just as you decide to be right now. In every present moment, you have the opportunity to change by making a choice to do something. You have the choice to make eggs for breakfast or to talk to someone sitting next to you or to read an email or to go sky diving. All of the actions that you decide on are experiences that build upon the dynamic identity that you are creating for yourself as you continue living.

You decide the kind of person you want to be and then make the choices that correspond to that identity. The beauty of it is that you can always change your mind. Don’t be Anakin Skywalker and let people tell you who to be and which side to join. Follow your own judgement with an open mind. A grounded but open mind.

Here’s my graduation speech that I just delivered on June 3rd! I was so giddy when I spoke Walsch’s words to my own crowd.

Adults commend me greatly whenever my mom brags (against my will) to them that her daughter was valedictorian of her class. Oooooo, aaaahhhhh. I assure you it’s no great feat. The only reasoned I made it is because I decided 2 years ago, after attending a friend’s graduation, that I would be on that stage as the number one student in my class.  A week ago, I made the same decision at the Empower convention in Denver. That’s it. Period.

Anything you want to do is achievable. Being the kind of person you want to be is possible. Just make the decision and do it.

Why, then, did I make the decision to join Empower Network? Why did I decide I’d NEVER have to worry about affording something again?
Well, check out the free video to get informed. Before I got the info, I thought it was a load of shit, but here I am now. Free.

May the force be with you,

Wow!

I certainly didn’t think this way when I graduated from high school – so you’re off to a pretty awesome start.
Any time a person understand that they have the option to question their thoughts – freedom exists. The reason so many of us end up unhappy is because we don’t take the time to find out who we are – or ‘remember’ who we are…depending on how you look at it.

I’ll admit that I haven’t read NDW – however, I have read very similar works from his Hay House colleagues. Being in the present moment – something that Eckhart Tolle teaches – is so valuable. In a world where our thoughts often ‘think us’ instead of the other way around, being present is the intentional act of being in alignment with an Intelligence much greater than our physical minds will ever understand.
Looks like you’ve discovered this already ;)
Best of luck to you Young Lady! I can see why your mom is proud.

Dear Dana,

thank you for commenting on my blog. My daughter just started her own blog and decided to share some of her posts with me here. She is pretty independent.

The only thing I know that children go by example. They do not care what we say, they watch what we do. They feel us, parents, on a deeper level.

Have a great week, Dana!

Hi Margarita,

Glad to see Kalina contributing here too :) Now that’s wonderful. Loved her speech delivered at her graduation. She is confident and determined.

Ha ha… I know how parents love to brag about their children Margarita ;) Eventhough it’s against our will, parents yet do as they feel the happiness and proud inside their hearts. Don’t you agree? ;)

Indeed! We tend to lose focus on the present moment while being worried about our past and future. A natural human behavior, but we might never make any progress unless we embrace the change and make the right choice.

Few times I’ve come across my friends who were really worried about their past and used to stuck in their life while making different kind of excuses. Sometimes suicidal attempts too. It’s really hard to take ‘em out from their negative mindset, but when they make that choice, that’s where it all begins.

I definitely agree that it’s all about choices we made. No one responsible for our lives or what happened to us, but we are. Even we are left with no preferred choices or forced by someone else, we can take the responsibility and grab next opportunity to be who we wants to be :) It’s a hard phase, but worth it. I’ve been there, done that and glad I did it after all :) I’m happy!

You both have a lovely week over there! :)

Cheers…

Hey Kalina,

I’m getting a double dose of you today, wonderful job and I watched your video shortly after your Mom first posted it. Very impressive feat young lady and trust me, you are way more focused and know “who you are” then any of us ever were. Okay, I’m speaking for myself but I’m an old foggy now.

I only wish I knew half of what you do when I was your age but no going back right! I am where I am because of where I’ve been and I’m not unhappy at all with my life or my choices. I’ve learned a lot and I actually love my life. Minus the loss I just endured last week but you know what I mean.

I preach all the time to my friends, family and readers that life is a choice. Every single darn thing about it is a choice. People can tell you what to do all day long but the end result is your choice. Once you make that choice and you believe it to be so, your life will fall into place to make that happen. It’s amazing how that all works but it’s divine.

Love your post and your oh so inspiring speech. You can teach us all a thing or two girl. Bravo!

Your daughter is amazing Margarita… ;-)
