3 Core Principles Of Marketing 101. How This Knowledge Can Help You?

In the marketing industry you are paid to make sales. If as a sales professional you do not make sales for your company, you just get fired. Your employer does not want more liabilities and as a result they get rid of you. The only solution is for you, as a marketer, to learn how to make sales.

1. You have got to be speaking to a particular audience. Otherwise you market to nobody. research and decide what is your audience or target market. Create in your mind your ideal customer, give him/her a name and decide how you can hep to solve their problems. Marketing to everybody is the same as marketing to nobody. Determining your target market is the first step to becoming professional marketer.

2. Create a message for your target market. Become a solution provider. Always address the end result, not the process of achieving the desired outcome. Craft the message to your prospect speaking their language and having their mindset while writing your copy. I like the saying that intelligence means the ability to put yourself into someone else’s shoes. Which means the ability to take different perspectives.

3. Decide on the medium. Where your prospect usually goes and spend time. Then you figure out where are you going to put your message so they can see it A perfect example is the “Big Gulp” 7-eleven advertisement.

Do not be on amateur level longer that you can even take it! You d not want to grow old before you become rich.

Become aware and apply this 3 core principles of Marketing 101: target market – message – medium!

Once you learn this and know better, you will do better.

Always remember that you are in business to make sales. Which means that you have to create financial transactions. always make sure that your market has the means to buy your product. Do not market to people who do not have any money. yesterday I talked to someone about her joining my business. She knew that it was a great opportunity, but did not have the $25 to join! I gave her some training, but this is a subject for another post.

With this information about marketing you can succeed in any business. Because any business is a function of making transactions.

Margarita, thanks for sharing.
From your post today I will focus on who I am marketing to.I write for extended families. I am a Boomer with adult children with their own kids. The grandkids rarely are interested in what I write, though my info applies.
Finding the market have been a challenge. I think I have found where I need to be, now.
What you said makes good sense and I will keep on that .

Hi Malika,

i am a boomer too. 56 years of age. I feel closer to my age than to a teenager. In order to make a transaction, those are the 3 things: find the right person, know what to tell them to offer a solution to their problems and know where they hang out.

It is a whole science behind this though.

Just loved the post :) . Marketing is very important for bloggers like us.

The thoughts you put forward is very true – “target market, message and medium”. I found the three tire concept too relevant for whatever business be it.
